The Wood Chip Separator is a specialized sorting machine widely used in wood processing, biomass energy, papermaking, and particleboard production industries. It is designed to separate qualified wood chips from oversized blocks, bark, twigs, dust, sand, stones and other foreign impurities. By grading materials uniformly, it improves raw material quality, optimizes subsequent processing efficiency, and protects downstream production equipment.
Working Principle
This equipment mainly relies on screening, airflow classification and mechanical separation:
Raw materials are evenly fed into the machine through the feeding port.
The rotating screen drum or layered screen deck screens materials by particle size. Standard wood chips pass through the screen and enter the next process.
Oversized wood blocks, long branches and large bark are blocked by the screen and conveyed to the waste outlet for discharge.
Equipped with auxiliary air flow devices, light dust, fine debris and lightweight sundries are blown away and collected separately. Heavy impurities like sand and stones sink and are removed via the bottom channel.
Main Structure
Feeding Section: Hopper and adjustable feeding roller for uniform and stable material input.
Screening Body: Multi-layer sieve plates with different aperture sizes, made of wear-resistant steel for long service life.
Rotating/ Vibrating Mechanism: Drives the screen to operate stably for efficient material grading.
Airflow System: Fan and air duct for removing light dust and lightweight impurities.
Discharge Ports: Independent outlets for qualified wood chips, large wastes and dust respectively.
Frame & Protective Cover: Integrated sealed frame to prevent material splashing and dust leakage.
Key Advantages
High Sorting Efficiency: Precise size grading, high removal rate of impurities and unqualified materials.
Wide Applicability: Works for logs, branches, leftover wood and other raw materials of different types and humidity.
Low Damage Rate: Gentle material movement, keeps wood chips intact without excessive crushing.
Dust Control: Fully enclosed structure with dust collection interface, meeting environmental requirements.
Easy Operation & Maintenance: Simple structure, convenient screen replacement and routine cleaning.
Large Processing Capacity: Stable operation for continuous large-volume production.
Typical Technical Parameters
Processing Capacity: 3–30 t/h
Screen Aperture: Customizable according to finished chip size requirements
Motor Power: 4–22 kW
Operating Mode: Continuous operation
Overall Dimension: Customized based on model
Material Moisture Adaptation: ≤45%
Application Scope
Pulp and paper mills for raw wood chip grading
Biomass power plants and biomass fuel production lines
Wood-based panel factories for particleboard, fiberboard and plywood production
Wood recycling and comprehensive utilization enterprises
