The thermal expansion indicator is a dedicated mechanical monitoring device widely installed on boilers and high-temperature piping systems of thermal power plants.It is designed to track and display the thermal expansion,displacement and deformation of core equipment including steam drums,headers,water wall assemblies and main steam pipelines throughout the whole operation cycle,from cold start,temperature rise,full-load running to shutdown and cooling down.By presenting real-time displacement data clearly,this device enables on-site staff to judge whether thermal movement stays within design limits,and serves as an essential safety component to maintain the stable operation of boiler units.

Its working principle relies on synchronous mechanical transmission.Before the boiler is put into operation,workers complete cold-state calibration and reset all pointers to zero.As the system heats up,high-temperature pipelines and pressure components expand naturally and produce displacement in horizontal,vertical and axial directions.The linkage mechanism drives the pointers to move synchronously,and the current expansion value can be read directly from the dial.Regular observation and data recording help operators detect abnormal conditions at an early stage.
